Instagram testing new menu layout, you may like it

Instagram continues its experiments, tweaks, and design changes to its App. Recently, they included critical features like Encrypted chats, Text-to-speech, and more. Instagram keeps experimenting with new changes and features. These features are shipped in the latest Beta version of the Instagram app.

New Instagram Profile Menu Layout

Instagram was using off-canvas menu designs for a long time. However, this is going to change very soon. I tested the latest Instagram beta. Instagram seems to be working to revamp the side menu design, whatever you say.

If you navigate to your profile section. You’ll see the old off-canvas menu in your current version of the Instagram app. However, in the new revamped menu design, off-canvas is replaced with overlay menu design. You can see a clear comparison in these screenshots. Here are the screenshots:

Along with the design changes they also removed a few menu options in this new layout. Instagram removed the “Insights” and “Discover People” options from the menu.

New Instagram Post Context Menu Layout

Instagram posts context menu show upon clicking the three dots at the top-right corner of every post in your timeline. Instagram changed the layout of the context menu layout and design. They are testing a new layout for a post-context menu for limited users.

However, they haven’t removed or added any new options in the Instagram post context menu. The latest design has new and big icons for “Share to”, “Copy Link” and “Report” options. These are the most used options in the menu itself. So, maybe Instagram decided to give them new look.

Here’s the side-by-side comparison of the new and old Instagram post context menu:

Note: These Instagram menu UI changes are a part of A/B testing and only available to a limited number of beta users. Instagram may or may not ship these changes to the main Instagram app.
